1. Application Instructions and Deadlines

Thank you for your interest in the Master of Arts in Intercultural Conflict Management (MA-ICM)! The programme lasts four (4) semesters, starting in September 2018 and ending in September 2020.

  • If you need a visa* to enter Germany, the closing date for submitting your complete application is April 15th, 2018!
  • If you do NOT need a visa, the closing date for submitting your complete application is May 15th 2018!

2. Selection Criteria and Application Procedure

The Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences welcomes students from all countries. Students are selected without regard to sex, ethnicity, religion, or national origin. All applications for admission to the M.A. programme are evaluated by the Admissions Committee.

As soon as an applicant's file is completed, it is anticipated that a decision will be taken and the applicant notified within approximately six weeks. The application will only be considered if the completed application has been submitted before the respective deadlines.

Important Note: The processing of a student visa application at the German authorities usually lasts three months or longer therefore you are strongly encouraged to apply early!

3. Admission Requirements and Supporting Documents

To complete your application for admission to the M.A. programme, you must submit:

  • Completed application form
  • Completed motivation letter (min 2 pages max 4)
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Copies of certificates and academic records (to be validated upon arrival!) do NOT include high school or secondary school certificates
  • Copies of letters of evaluation from past or current employers
  • Proof of English language proficiency
    If you are not a native English speaker, please provide the results from an internationally recognised language proficiency test such as Cambridge Advanced Certificate, Test of English as a Foreign Language, International English Language Testing System or similar. These results should NOT be older than two (2) years.
  • Proof of financial ability that shows how you plan to finance your studies (tuition fee 7920.- EURO for the first three semesters, the fourth and last semester 500.- EURO plus 300.- EURO administrative Charge. A total of 8720.- EURO and, if applicable, additional costs for optional services such as for public transportation tickets, reservation of a student accommodation) and living costs* (around 670.- EURO per month required), this may include:
    • a statement of financial support and a confidential bank statement (sum in EURO or Dollar) from yourself, a relative or personal sponsor (voucher guarantee) showing that sufficient funds are available to support your studies at the Alice Salomon University and life in Berlin
    • a sponsorship letter from a government agency, organization, institution or school etc.

*Germany's Alien Registration Authorities expect visiting students to have around 670.· EURO per month (8040.-EURO a year) to cover the cost of living. Generally, the full amount for the duration of your stay in Germany must be deposited in a separate bank account before a visa can be issued. Please read the "frequently asked questions" at the programme's website for more details.

Important Notes:

  • Please do NOT send hardcopies but please send via email scanned copies of your documents
  • If your country does not use the EURO or US Dollar, please ensure that you also submit the value of your funds in either currency or (you can use the currency converter under "fees and finances" at the programme's website the rate of exchange at the time of submitting the form.
  • All documents submitted in support of your application become and remain the property of the Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences. Submitted documents will not be returned to you.
